What is SUP Yoga?!
SUP (Stand Up Paddle) Board Yoga…that’s right, we practice YOGA on a paddle board! If your first thought is “What? How?” Have no fear, I thought the same thing when I first heard of this practice! I thought, yoga is challenging enough on land, how can I practice yoga on a paddle board?!
So we gave it a shot and guess what? We got wet our first time. Falling in water is a much less frightening experience then when we fall on land. We laughed, and hopped back on and tried again. It was fun and new and we couldn’t wait to do it again. The more we practiced the more natural it became and now we are practicing handstands on a paddle board. Can you imagine?!
First and foremost Yoga is a practice that we often think is just physical but it’s not. Yoga is the practice of connecting the mind, body and soul. When we practice in nature we feel more connected to the earth, our environment and Mother Nature herself. Imagine a hot sunny day and you feel the coolness of the water beneath you, the heat of the sun to warm you, the gentle floating, the silence and then everything speaks to you. You hear the birds, the sound of the water, the breeze in the trees and a sense of calmness and peacefulness washes over you. It’s truly one of my favorite things.

SUP Yoga season is back! For all of those who have already had the experience of taking a SUP Yoga class if you could be so kind and write a review of your experience we would love to hear from you! Let the Paddle and Yoga community know how awesome it is! A lot of practitioners have reservations or mild fears of attempting yoga on a board. Sharing your experience can encourage someone else to try. 🙂
Our instructors are highly trained and adjust the classes to the level of the practitioners who join us. If you are still finding your balance on the board have no fear, you never have to stand at all to practice a full sequence on the board. It’s worth a try and worse comes to worse you just fall in!
